The Bridge to Leintwardine

Fred’s wife made me coffee and a full english breakfast and by the time I had packed up and said goodbye to the owners of The Bridge it was well past 11.

I took the B4347 to Abbeydore and followed it to Vowchurch then left onto the B4348 to Dorstone, where a couple from Ohio flagged me down for a chat, they were driving their route they had done 8 years previous on a tandem.

Lovely cycling through rolling farmland with beautiful views along the Golden Valley.  I pulled an uphill past the Priory coming out on the A438 turning off through Woodseaves to Eardisley where I had a crem tea to make up for not having one in Devon!  I took the Almeley Road to Woonton and had flat riding through apple orchards all the way through Broxwood, Weston and Marston.  I took a hilly wrong turn through Staunton on Arrow.

All of the houses around this area are 14c white with black wooden beams and picture postcard gardens.  I had another mile or so of flat then a climb up to Byton and on up to Kinsham and I stopped at The George in Lingen for a cottage pie and the locals donated £24.50.  It was a lovely fast ride against the sun to Leintwardine where I found a rustic campsite, no shower but a sink so I had a strip wash and went straight to bed; asleep by 10.30.
