Hawkshead to Whitbarrow Village

I had breakfast and a bath before saying goodbye to Richie, who had paid for the hotel, food and drinks as a treat. We agreed to meet up for my next rest day in Arran.

I left in heavy cloud just gone noon and took the road alongside Esthwaite Water to Hawkshead and onto the B5286 to Ambleside at the north of Windermere.

I took the A591 Rydal to Grasmere and then had a 720′ climb up and over Dunmail Raise.

I took a very scenic road along the west of Thirlmere Lake with lots of waterfalls and beautiful views.

I followed the B5322 to Threlkeld where I stopped for some food as it was 3pm and I was starving.

I received a text from Dawn and it turned out I was very close to their holiday cottage and even though I’d not even done 30 miles as my knee was hurting so much I decided to go and spend the night with them.

I took part of the Coast to Coast route alongside the A6 past Troutbeck to Whitbarrow Village. I had a lovely shower and they treated me to a meal but I only had starters and pudding as I had already had my main at the pub down the road.
